COVID-19 Update

Walton Funeral Service remains committed, prepared and available 24/7 to safely care for the families we serve for the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to enable families to participate in the rituals and services that are most important to them, and work with each family to accomplish a meaningful service. The health and safety of our families and staff is at the forefront of what we do as a funeral home and family.

In accordance with the CDC’s recommendations, and now the Indiana’s mandatory regulation,

According to Governor Holcomb’s message, beginning Sunday, November 15, 2020 all funeral events of any kind are to be LIMITED to no more than 50 people in assembly at any one time in location with all social distancing requirements in observance. This includes family, clergy, and our staff.

Along with this, it is a must that anyone who enters our building, or any building that is holding a visitation or funeral/memorial service must where a mask or face shield.

{In practice as licensed Indiana funeral directors and funeral homes, the protection of public welfare and health, along with prevention in spread of infectious disease is part of our fundamental duty of care and legal responsibility. Indiana Code 25-15-2-17(7)}

We will be working with our families to honor their loved ones and with the permission of the family, we will incorporate technology such as our capability to do webcasting to better involve other family and friends in the community.

New program we are offering….

During these times of uncertainty, you physically may not be able to attend the funeral service of your friends and loved ones but if you call our office we will sign the register book and attach your message of condolence to a balloon. The balloons represent to the family the love and support of their friends and family during their loss. Please call us at 812-847-2986 (Linton), 812-875-3081 (Worthington), 812-829-2791 (Spencer) for assistance.

One of many measures we are implementing instructs our staff to clean door knobs, hand rails, faucets, etc several times throughout visitation and funeral hours. For this extremely important situation, we are also placing health and safety above social courtesies. Some of our staff that are more at-risk, or have family at-risk, will remain at home for their safety.

We will also be staggering services in order to properly clean and disinfect the common areas between events. We ask that anyone attending a service practice proper hand hygiene and social distancing. Please feel free to schedule appointments as normal with our staff, so we can help you in any way, as we normally would. We will clean and disinfect between appointments for your health and safety.

Again, Walton Funeral Service priority is to protect and serve our community during these difficult times. We appreciate the work of our local health departments, medical professionals and the CDC and will continue to adhere to their guidelines for as long as needed. We hold sacred the trust you have placed in us and are truly humbled that you find our family worthy of caring for your family at such an important time. Thank you for your continued understanding, and please check back for additional changes and notices.
