Harley Melton was a good friend. I worked with him in transitioning to computerization at the Sheriffs Department. Anytime the ISP needed assistance, Harley was there; we had an excellent working relationship. I believe if the topic of Owen County Sheriffs is discussed in the future; Harley will be one of the first mentioned. My sincere condolences to the family. Respectfully; Ken Fowler Former ISP Commander of Bloomington Post (retired)

It is sad to see the passing of such a decent man. I worked with him as a lawyer and always found him honest and straightforward. He served the citizens of Owen County well. He will be missed. My condolences to his family...

When it comes to best friends, Harley would be at the top of my list through many, many years. We used to kid one another on a regular basis and his title was "you little fat sheriff" for us start another friendly discussion. Our many times shared with Harley will be greatly missed by Jo and I. May God bless his family at this time of loss.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Harley was an awesome father-in-law and papaw to my 3 daughters. I will forever remember Harley making sure the new jail floors were always mopped and waxed. Harley instilled in me that, β€œIf your floors look good, everything else looks good too!” Praising God that Harley went home to be with Dee and he is healed.
