Richard Edward Poff “Dick”, 85, of Spencer, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at I.U. Hospice House in Bloomington. Dick was born in Coatsville, Indiana on August 15, 1936 to Frank Poff and Mary (Wells) Poff. Dick graduated from Spencer High School in 1954, and then married the love of his life, Janet (Pratt) Poff on June 4, 1955. Dick worked at Johnsons Grocery in Spencer as a butcher for 25 years and then went on to receive his Bachelor degree from Indiana University when he was 50 years old. He worked at IU in the registration department, and was a minister at Bethany Presbyterian Church. Dick was a Lay Pastor for Presbyterian of Ohio Valley, a member of AA, Fly Casters Association, and very active with Emmaus Walks. Dick enjoyed gardening, fly fishing, camping, and especially enjoyed taking items from his garden and donating them to the food pantry.
Dick is survived by his wife, children, Pamela Taylor, Patrick Poff, and Phillip Poff of Spencer, eight grandchildren, Rhea, Heidi, Holly, Joe, Stacy, Katie, Sabrina, Megan, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, son Perry Poff, brothers William and Hareld Poff, and sister Martha Fish.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2021 at the Spencer Presbyterian Church, 154 N. Main Street Spencer, Indiana. A luncheon will follow after service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Spencer Presbyterian Church food pantry, through the funeral home.
