She was bornin Owen County on October 23, 1932 to Maime Wall and Charles Denny, and grew up surrounded by her 11 siblings. She married her late husband, Eugene Wesley Arthur in 1953, and they started a family of their own. Eventually, she became a grandmother of 12, a great grandmother of 29, and a great-great grandmother of 4.
Anyone who knew Virginia knew she had a beautiful smile for everyone she met, welcomed everyone at her table, and always had a pot of coffee brewing for frequent visitors.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene Wesley Arthur, her best friend, Bertha Bell, four siblings, one son, Bradley (Mary) Arthur, two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Her legacy lives on through her children, Darrell (Elaine) Arthur, Donna Alday, Dollie (Mark) Sturgell, Robert (Donna) Arthur, Ernie Arthur, and Andrew (Janice) Arthur.
For those who wish to say their last goodbye to Virginia, viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 18 from 4-8 pm at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer. Viewing on Wednesday, January 19 will be at the First Pentecostal Church 691 West Indiana Avenue, Spencer from 10 am – 1 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
